Caroline Channing

Category of work:

Glass

Describe your work in one sentence:

I make stained glass windows and decorative kiln formed glass artwork

Why do you do it?

Glass is a lovely material to work with and as a bonus you get to play with the effects of colour and light

What keeps you going (what’s your GRIT)?

It is a joy to work collaboratively with customers to make something beautiful for their home that will be enjoyed for many     years into the future. In my non commissioned artwork I like to see if I can translate the ideas I have in my mind into real objects     and follow the unexpected paths that might appear along the way

What advice would you give to somebody wanting to become a ‘creative’?

My advice would be to follow your passion and do what makes your heart sing

Tell us something unusual about yourself?

In 2002 I went to Abbey Road Studios to be part of a recording of a B side of a single that went on to reach no. 9 in the charts –     this is surprising as I can’t sing – luckily my role consisted of heckling the singer John Otway in the company of about 900 other people.
